Booming Business, Economy Woes, and The Only Answer
“Business is booming!”
Wouldn’t that be words we would all like to be saying going into the summer of 2026?
Most of us in Burleson are scrambling and swiping, doing everything we can to feel like we’re surviving. Our wheels are spinning, six sometimes even seven days a week, yet it feels like we aren’t really getting anywhere.
Wheels are turning at lightning speed, yet we dread pulling over to fill up, especially when we see the price at the pump. As you’ve noticed, gas has been hovering 4 dollars a gallon for the last 2 months. How could we possibly take our foot off the gas and give ourselves a day or two to fill ourselves up? We have too many bills to pay, and our lives are too expensive to slow down.
Our check engine light is on, but we persist forward because, at least for today, we’re able to make it from A to B. Praise God, we’re able to reach our destination, even if the journey feels bumpy and rocky, or we hear a strange noise whenever we turn the wheel.
I don’t know about you, but I’m drained from striving. I’m frustrated with the economy. I’m exhausted from doing so much, just to see so little remain at the end of every month. I’m sick of skipping lunch because lunch costs more than it did last month. I’m annoyed at myself for feeling guilty right after I decide to grab a bite to eat. I’m tired of robbing Peter to pay Paul. I’m burned out from putting bills on credit cards with the false illusion that next quarter will be better. Will it ever get better? Can’t I just print money like the federal government does whenever I need money?
Who is to Blame?
Should I blame myself for not getting a 9-5? Should I blame myself for how I budget? Should I blame the economy for how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer while the middle class gets squeezed? Should I point at the headlines, the wars, the president, or even the Federal Reserve for my financial problems?
Or should I do the only thing I can do in a moment like this… Surrender.
Surrender it all to Jesus. Lay it at the altar. Cast your worries onto Jesus and take the pressure off yourself by trusting God to provide. God Almighty will provide for his children, and everything they need! “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ … Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” - The Gospel of Matthew 6:31–32 (NLT)
Are you living out the life God called you to? Are you laying seed while those wheels are turning? Are you growing weary in doing good? The Lord tells us not to give up because we will reap a harvest of blessings at the right time. (See Galatians 6:9)
So my friend who is carrying a financial burden, put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and He will make a way!
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” — The Gospel of Luke 12:6–7 (ESV)
